Message from the Head

Dear Students,
According to the World Health Organization, the midwife; It is defined as “a person who provides necessary care and counseling during pregnancy, at birth and after birth, who has normal births under his own responsibility, who provides newborn care and family planning counseling”. Qualified midwifery graduates are needed in order to increase the quality of population and fertility services all over the world. This situation has caused the midwifery profession to be among the promising professions. In line with scientific approaches, our department aims to train graduates who are competent in protecting, developing and maintaining mother-child health, researching, serving the needs of the health sector, and preferred nationally and internationally.
Our department is a student-centered department that cares about the opinions and ideas of students and offers an educational environment that provides consultancy services to its students. Our academic staff, consisting of a professional, experienced and dynamic team, work devotedly to train professional midwives.
Midwifery Department is a department focused on professional theory and practice. Our curriculum has been created to meet the Midwifery Graduation Criteria in line with the European Union. Our students are given the opportunity to practice and do internships in the technical laboratories of our faculty, relevant hospitals and health institutions in order to transform the theoretical education they receive into practice in the field. In addition, an interdisciplinary education is provided with various elective courses to be offered throughout the undergraduate education.
Midwives who graduated from the Department of Midwifery can work in institutions that provide primary health care, hospitals and birth preparation centers. At the same time, with the postgraduate education they will receive after graduation, they can work in health institutions as specialist midwives and in higher education institutions as academicians.
Our students who successfully complete the Department of Midwifery in the Faculty of Health Sciences of Tarsus University are given the title of "EBE". We invite you to our Midwifery Department to receive qualified training in order to be a member of a profession that has been known since the existence of humanity and will always be of critical importance.
